The NICU soundcheck is priceless! This is a sneak peak at when it became the song we know and love, except for the weird middle part.

Wow! What's up with the recording on this one? If you would like an absolute clinic on how Mike plays the bass, this is your show! Page is pretty much completely missing from this bootleg. All the vocals are low. Trey and Fish are still in there but, Mike is front and center! Lots of reverb too.

Anyway, this is a first set only bootleg and the playing is pretty good from what I can hear. Mike has his problems in the new songs but, otherwise tight. Love the bass line to It's Ice.

As always, I wish I could hear the whole show. Looked like a fun second set.

I tell you what, Buried Alive>Possum is a fantastic opener. Great hearing Mike so loud on It's Ice! Give it a listen. The recording is really weird; at times it feels like Fish and Page and Trey's voice are in another room. At first I felt like even though it's cool to hear Mike so clearly these songs weren't written to have to the bass guitar way out front and having the drums so low doesn't help. But when it's good it's good: It's Ice, SOAM. Divided Sky is cool too if you're someone who doesn't seem to get tired of it (such as myself). SOAM jam is awesome. Sloth and Jim both sound good too. This is another solid spring 92 show.

So set 2, more sound issues though maybe a bit different. I really dig the Tweezer, it's nice and dirty. Highly recommend. Eliza sounds like it was ripped from an old VHS tape in a good way. YEM also sounds awesome in a muddy way, the Mike and Page jam is fun as heck. Vocal jam is very funny. My Friend and Lizards are OK, the recording doesn't really do them any favors but Maze sounds really cool. Next we check in with Henrietta, a late show highlight as always, even if I'm not the biggest fan of his vacuum (on tape). My Mind and Golgi get the energy back up and Catapult and Tweeprise close the show out in style, great encores, Trey gets goofy during Contact. Repreezer is the perfect ending.

So: set one is worth listening to for the insight into Mike's '92 bass playing. The second set's Tweezer is excellent. At a certain point the recording quality starts to add to the experience of listening to the show. Through the first set I felt like the show was maybe going to end up being a fun curiosity for the pronounced bass sound but by YEM I was feeling like this is actually a show I might be revisiting. Your mileage may vary but I think this one might be a bit of a sleeper.

This one was a roller coaster for me, but it's got some high highs. All right see y'all in New Mexico!
